Brussels 5th of august 2025. The European Commission, at the initiative of a coalition of major seamless steel cylinder manufacturers who are members of the European Cylinder Manufacturers Association (ECMA), has announced duties on extremely cheap high-pressure steel cylinders from China used for compressed and liquefied gases.
The import duties in force from the 6th of August are structured in a percentage range and based on the severity of the dumping committed by the Chinese manufacturers.
The announcement from the European Commission that duties would be placed on imports of unfairly subsidized seamless steel high pressure gas cylinders from China has been welcomed by the European Cylinder Makers Association. ECMA issued a statement welcoming the announcement from the European Commission and thanks all those involving in achieving this result. European Commission’s action confirmed that for many years, ECMA Members have been subject to unfair competition from cylinders imported from China distorting healthy market competition. This is an important step in in levelling the playing field which has been distorted for too long by Chinese exporters.”
