Renzo Toffolutti – Founder
(1938-2005)

Born in 1938, Renzo Toffolutti, the founder of Faber, grew up in Udine in North-East Italy, where he completed his education through high-school and aided by his height, he achieved significant successes in sporting activities such as basketball and athletics. Born in an entrepreneurial family, Renzo’s father owned and managed a metal working shop together with his cousins. Despite the possibility of a secure job in the family business, he made his way to the Politecnico in Milan , where he graduated in Chemical Engineering , and progressed to became the first member of his family to achieve a master’s degree in Engineering.

Upon graduation, his first job was with Dalmine, a leading seamless steel tube manufacturer, near Milan, who was also in the business of manufacturing cylinders using a tube stock. Whilst serving as an Engineer for Dalmine, he developed his own novel concept of designing seamless steel gas cylinders by deep drawing starting from plate as the raw material rather than from a tube as was the standard method at that time at Dalmine. His entrepreneurial spirit and determination led him to establish Faber in Cividale del Friuli, in North-East, nearby his hometown Udine.

Under Renzo Toffolutti’s guidance, Faber quickly grew into a leading company in the field of designing and manufacturing high-pressure gas cylinders and accumulators serving the global market. Named simply “The Engineer” by his employees, he had always been an undisputed pioneer of innovation driving the company to new heights in the world of gas cylinder production/technology Since his passing in 2005, Faber’s stakeholders have fondly remembered him for his drive, leadership, determination and unique soft skills that made him always a respected, inspiring and loved person.
